MY SECRET SANTA ROCKS!!!!
They have been so generous-an ornament, candy and other fun treats. Today they got me the coolest mug with a "Nice" on one side and "Naughty" on the other (if that is not me, I don't know what is). Someone else got one last week and I fell in love with it and next thing I know my SS is hooking a sister up! So Secret Santa if you are reading this--You are the Mac Daddy (or Mama) of Secret gift giving!! Thanks!
**Found out my Secret Santa did not give me the mug-which actually totally threw me off from guessing who it was. Jim N. was my SS and he did a really great job and hooked me up with a Gift Cert to Barnes and Noble. Cindy got me the mug (thanks Cindy!!)

For the Record...
I put in an application/resume for the Supervisors position that opened up in my office. Not 100% sure I want the job, but I do want an opportunity to at least interview for it. I will keep you posted.

Someone stole the lucky penny!!
Today as I was crossing the street and went to look for my lucky penny (GASP) it was not there! Now I am too much a believer in coincidence to think that my blogging about my lucky penny did not have something to do with its disappearance. However, I have found that I am not upset in the least, because karma has a way of coming around. My pocket is now lined with an additional $.37. I found a quarter, a dime and 2 pennies all in different locations today. Sweet. Take that to the bank penny thief!

Hello, My name is Beth and I am a lifer...
While I was reading my brother Mark's blog today http://www.magicjunk.com/blog/ I realized that I will be celebrating my 13 year anniversary with the County of Lancaster this January. HOLY CRAP!!! 13 YEARS!! But it's okay--I really like my job. Let me clarify: I like what I do (I could live w/o the office BS) In fact, I helped two women secure employment this week and both were so happy. One even said I was the "bomb" - that is much better than being told to F-off :)
The whole point of this blog entry is this: I am a lifer. There is a Supervisors position opening up in my office and I am qualified, but I don't think I would want to take it. One of the reasons is because I would no longer work with clients. Secondly, there is less flex time and more paperwork (God I hate paperwork) Another is because I have breasts--I would have more success putting skis on my shoulders and trying to get thru a revolving door than being a woman and getting hired for this position. I guess I should be mad at the unfairness of it but I am not planning on burning my bra just yet. Believe it or not, the work I am doing leaves the world a little better each day I go to work. Maybe not huge social change, but little baby steps.
I am not trying to get mystical at this point, but sometimes I think it was my destiny to help others. Or, I got lucky and fell into this line of work, because I did not want to have to take Math courses in college. Either way-I am okay with where I am and for how long I have been at it (and 4 weeks of Vacation doesn't hurt either).
I may just apply for the Supervisors job--just to shake things up--plus it never hurts to interview.
